A few on my early favorites if for no other reason than they are brave enough to sport platforms:

Ironically I don't think this is a builders booth. I think it's Cane Creek

Is it just me, or does the paint on the RDS anniversary edition look sort of ham-handedly done?

It was hoppin' today and my personal best of show was the Ellis Dave Wages road rig...The 36er of Blacksheep origin was cool as well--wonder how it rides?....Rich Adams bunny bike complete with front rack and rabbit was sweet as well....

Highlight of the show was talking for a good bit with Kent Eriksen...I like ti again now!!! He swears he can get a good stiff snappy ride for me...Maybe, just maybe, I'll call his bluff!

Maybe I'll win the big lotto tonight so I can have one of each from each

Did you know that that muddy RS Cross at the SRAM booth was Sachs' personal bike? (He told me so)

I was thinking about this after enjoying the photos that have been posted of the NAHBS....people like Dario Pegoretti, Richard Sachs and the other builders who we know and respect don't need to attend a show to market their product. The demand is so great for their bikes. It truly must be a labor of love, the love of the bike and the camaraderie that draws them together.

Sachs told me today, and said that he's stated before that if the show were held in a pool hall, he'd still be there. That is a love and a passion for the build community that goes WAY beyond the need to show off the product to potential clients.

His Team bikes have always looked great with a little mud on them.

Agree. In fact, e-RICHIE is not looking to recruit new clients. He has closed the book to new owners. So he is there to support the community of bike builders.

I am impressed by what he is doing with the NAHMBS and The Frambuider's Collective. http://www.framebuilders.org/

He is leaving a legacy that will influence the future of bicycles and the art of framebuilding. This is something great artists do. They leave influence beyond merely the immediate beauty of their work.

I'm a big fan of the craftsmanship and innovation on display at NAHBS. I've not been able to attend in person, but I'm a customer of several exhibitors, and I make an effort to study all available pictures.

Rarely do I say anything negative about bikes on this forum, but . . .

The Naked bikes leave me cold. Do you know anyone who has one and loves it? Why do I never hear about this guy outside of NAHBS and his HPV speed records?

Sillgey. (http://flickr.com/photos/nealmck08/3320736667/) The horror. Daily I pray that my eyes may recover . . . :help:

The Naked bikes ...:
shhh - he's the people's choice http://handmadebicycleshow.com/awards2009.htm

They are show bikes, so not so interesting to me, but Sam is so gracious in person and gave a lot of his time as people spent time examining the intricacies of his details that I'd say HE is the people's choice.

The Sillgey people were very cool and have a niche concept w/ their colors. The bikes are 100% in their control and the steel forks are nice. There's some bike under that powder, for sure.

I liked the timing belt on the Calfee tandem -- would like to try one to see how it feels. Would be cool to try a belt on a single or fixed too.

Naked - yes, lots of them.

They are very popular in BC, where he is quite well known.

Especially track bikes, lots of them at the Velo.

The NAHBS exposure will just move him outside of BC.

Sam also lives on an Island, off of another Island. Kind of restricts his "access" to people and places.

I have been to a few of these shows. The show is great for displaying the attention to detail in making how a bicycle look. However, the biggest missing link between the show and purchasing one of the rigs is HOW DOES THE BIKE RIDE. A beautiful bikes with amazing welds does not guarantee a great ride.

What you have to go on are word of mouth from the past individual owners and hope that the builder can reproduce the same for you.

People's choice or president's choice is just that. Only criteria is about how it looks in the show and the image you have conjured up for yourself on  the rig.

I don't really get into all the show bikes, built specifically for this show and display.

get me a good looking bike that is useful, like this Hufnagel:
