Guys/Gals,
In my quest for a Serotta I've happened upon a NOS frame/fork (blue/purple lugged) Serotta CRL in what I believe to be my size.
I haven't gotten to see it yet, but the LBS tells me its around 10 years old and never been used.
What is a fair price for such an item?
I'm not looking to make a steal, but don't want to play the fool either.
Thanks.

Congrats on the find - the CRL was the top of the line, and only superseded by the CSI - arguably the best all steel ride Serotta has ever produced.

If you take a look in the classifieds on this site, and fleabay you can get a sense of what they sell for.

My educated guess is somewhere around $600 to $900 - steel doesn't hold it's value well, and these frames were about $1500 when new.

I'm betting that the frame is older than 10 years. I got my CSI in 1996, and I think that was the second year of the CSI.

Good luck

Rob

Thanks Hardlyrob.
They're wanting more than $1500 saying a new one would cost . . . I don't remember what, but +$1500 seemed too high to me, but I wasn't sure.

I'd think $750 for a nos 10yr+ frame would be a bargain.

[They're wanting more than $1500]

That's probably why it's still sitting there. $750 seems fair.

Tell the LBS that you going to buy the IF CJ that's listed over in the classified for $700.
