I'm wondering if there's any significant differences between this year's and last year's 10 speed Centaur cassettes....for example, is the 09 the same as the 08 10 spd. Chorus?

i think the 09 centaur is closer to the 08 centaur than the 08 chorus. if anything it would appear the 09 centaur is a touch heavier than the 08 but that is only from a casual observation on my part.

Noooooo - the 2009 Centaur cassette is different than the 2008 and older cassettes.

Differences:
* All 2009 Centaur cassettes include a lockring. Only the 11-23 used to come with a lock ring.
* On the 2009 Centaur cassette they abandoned the carrier that holds groups of the larger sprockets for all individually replaceable sprockets. This means that you can easily replace one worn sprocket at a time, cuts down the cost, but also adds a bit of weight.

The 2009 Centaur sprockets continue to use the Ultra Drive system and are made from chromoly-nickel plated hardened steel (just as in previous years).

FYI, lickbike has 2009 centaur cassettes on sale for $80:

15G heavier than 2008 ;)

Ribble has them for $50-65, depending on range. Campy needs to do something about distribution in NA. Dealers over here are getting killed by prices out of the UK.

With all loose cogs, the 2009 Centaur is more like an earlier model Veloce cassette and cheaper price reflects that.
