I'm dreaming of the green Spectrum hanging in my basement. I got to ride it three times last week, but now its February again and I'm just biding my time for a few more weeks. On purely aesthetic grounds, I 'spose I semi-dream of a Kirk Terraplane, but I need another bike like Kobe Bryant needs more raw talent. I don't. Don't even want one. Is this a sickness?

I'm dreaming of the CXII I just bought used. Unfortunately its still in the box at my parent's and the snowstorm + my schedule isn't letting me go.

Other than that, I'm dreaming of being outside (ie. no more SNOW!) and magically losing about 15lbs even though I'm snacking on trail mix as we speak at my desk...

ps. am dreaming about the Shimano BL-TT78's - can't wait to see 'em and hopefully get them! (for the CXII of course!)

I rarely yearn for any of the new (road) stuff anymore (I still admire them) but given my current stable I'm more than covered. My kid has moved me into the mountain bike world though - a whole new arena of opportunities to support our economic recovery! Although I must say I'm not really in the mood for non-essential purchases right now (I guess I'm part of the economic problem).

A circa 1973 cooper colored Raleigh International. Just because I wanted one back then, but didn't have the wood to own one. My current machine, a Zank, meets all of my needs and expectations. There is absolutely nothing else available today that could supersede my Zank.

Plus 2 for the Meivici in the Classifieds! This must be how Jay Leno feels every time he sees another classic car, except he can pull the trigger and get whatever he wants. This hobby has benefits and costs that hit both body and wallet, almost simultaneously. I don't need another bike, let alone that particularly expensive one, but I WANT it. :crap:

Do you think Mr. Obama would consider a grant to buy it as an investment in green technology if I promised to ride it frequently?

There is always one of the Colnagos currently appearing on Bonktown. Hmmm, C50 or Extreme Power? Decisions, decisions.

But my trophy case is overflowing with 60's through early '80s racing components. I have more than enough to build a fun bike and still have plenty of pieces to keep on display for the ages.

In my fantasy world, some local kids whose great uncle died will ask me if I want to take the deceased's '70s vintage Masi Criterium frame off their hands for a grand.

In reality, I am starting to think maybe I ought to engage a mid-tier builder to fillet braze up a bike with Criterium geometry then have it powder coated brown gold. The parts will be worth 4 times the frame, but it will still be a lot of fun to ride on sunny summer days.

In a completely different direction: A Jonesbike Space Frame set up for 2" plus wheels. Given where I live - Chicago - and my riding style, I would probably ride it once or twice the rest of my life. Still, I love going to the Jones' site and looking at it. One incredible and unique bike.

other bikes that have piqued my interest: serotta csi, fierte, CDA although i haven't decided which one is my favorite yet (the fierte is the most similar to my sweetpea). carbon bikes: pedal force ZX3 or RS2...kinda amazed at their price, and people who've ridden them seem to really like them. I guess if I were to have to get one, i'd look at the hsg or a calfee as well, and based on this post (http://everydayathleteblog.com/2009/02/01/2009-veloforma-f1r-hot-white-sex-on-wheels/) ...maybe veloforma....

I'm not sure which I like better, the design of the bike, or the clear powdercoat on a non sandblasted frame. As much as I like the smooth welds on my Serotta, I think it'd be cool to have a frame where you can see a little more of how it was crafted.

I gotta say nothing right now. Probably the first time since I started riding I could say that.

There are bikes I think are real nice (eg. Marcelo, Crumpton), but when I consider what they cost, no way.

I could not be more happy with my C50 and Love No. 3. I don't see a reason to "upgrade" my Dura Ace 7800 either. The stuff works great.

Instead, I spent my new gismo money this year on Too Talls Spring camp in the Virginia mountains.

What is it? ;)

It's an Alex Moulton space frame road. They have front and rear suspension (Moulton designed the suspension for the original Mini) and the frame comes apart for shipping by pulling a few pins and undoing the cables.

They use 17" wheels which when they were introduced set all kinds of time trial and track records which then got the USCF and others to promptly ban them. They are silly fast and with the suspension the ride is very smooth.

They are a lot of fun and if you ever get a chance to ride one don't pass it up.

A true mutt of a bike. One bike that can do most anything fairly well from road riding to light off road (slightly more MTB than cross) to light touring.

Custom Ti (or steel), heavy duty carbon fork (or steel), V-brakes, sturdy 26-inch MTB wheels, plenty of tire clearance, and with road triple components.

I like the front rack over the wheel, never noticed one like that before. Wonder how they work or how they affect handling. I'd assume it is better than placing a load off the bars since the rack is lower.

:) :) :)

QUOTE=SamIAm]I just have a strong feeling that they are best in class among the current builders. I also like working with them and I can't think of a bike that I may someday want that they couldn't build.[/QUOTE]

Well, if you are going to twist my arm..ok, I'm in. :)

What bike am I dreaming of?
None.
I just want to ride what I have.
That's where I'm coming from... and on the rollers doesn't count...

i have a Marcelo waiting to be built and i'm on e-richie's short list so i probably shouldn't be daydreaming about others.

Successfully avoided buying JB's Sachs cross and FlaRider's Speedvagen - both were tempting enough to break open the piggy bank. But Jerk's new Gaulzetti race machine has me very intrigued.

There's something wrong with me. I'm trying to be just a little bit serious about answering this thread - what bike would I get if I could get anything. It keeps coming down to the same answer. A Serotta La Corsa in the same geometry as my Peter Mooney, with a massive down tube, red decals on the right side, blue on the left, with Dura-Ace 9-speed and Cinelli 65 bars. I work in a bike shop, I could have changed anything I wanted over the last 3 years, yet nothing has changed. Guess I'm left dreaming about some new tires and a new chain...

This is a question that probably occupies too much of my mental space too much of the time:)

While it changes often, I was in Jitensha studio about two weeks ago and saw a slate blue Ebisu being built up. It was GORGEOUS, and I wish I could have taken that one home.

I have a different dream every night. But the reocurring dreams include: Pinarello Prince, Indy. Fab. xs, and of course a Crumpton.

What's wrong with new tires and a new chain? And new cables in the springtime?

I have a Colnago C50 and a Parlee Z1x - it's the first time in ages that I have ZERO lust for another bike. However, I'd like a 7900 group...

I dont know whats wrong with me but as soon as i complete one bike i want another one. I think half the fun is thinking about the build and making it happen over a few months. Usually takes along time for me and i guess its like a hobby. The long time is mostly cause im always on a pretty slim budget. And if i could just buy it of the rack i dont think i would enjoy it the same.

Dont get me wrong im not one of those guys not riding the bikes, I ride alot..
I just really like having a new build going in my head, pondering about what parts to buy etc, its something i really enjoy even tho at times it almost consumes me.

Right now i love my green Indy fab (wich i cant ride right now cause of sudden snowfall) but i have an eye out for a Moots compact 57.5 or 59, prefereably an SL.

As a lugged frame fan, one of these in my size with traditional geometry. The colors are perfect. Does Ben have a 'zero interest for 60 months' payment plan through GMAC or GE or one of the other TARP recipiants? That's the only way I'll end up with one of these, unfortunately. And 72 months would be even better. :)

I'm on the list for a Sachs (expected in 2012 or 2013 I think...see, I've already lost count, that's the point, right?) so I probably dream about that the most.

Also dream about a Parlee Z1 (or Z2), or a Crumpton SL, or a Serotta Meivici, or a Calfee Dragonfly...some custom über-carbon wunderbike. And a Kirk with braze-ons & clearance for fenders. And a Velokraft NoCom. And maybe a Moots Vamoots SL.

But mostly I dream of owning a garage where I could keep them all, and having a schedule that would allow me to ride them all regularly.

I love all 3 of my Moots bikes and don't really want for anything else since I have a road bike, cx bike, and mtb. But, if I had Warren Buffet type money, I would totally drop the hammer on a Viner Maxima. Custom only cf hand made in Italy. How could it possibly get any sweeter?
