I'm starting to wonder what (or who) began the practice of speaking of oneself in the third person.

Or, should I ask, Toaster wonders what (or who) began the practice of speaking of oneself in the third person.

Toaster will not at all be offended if his question is met with an onslaught of third person responses, this is probably to be expected.
