Forum member Rustychisel and I, and our respective partners, are heading to France this August for some floating around on the Canal du Midi. We are going to take our bikes, with some great rides using our canal boat as a base, planned.

We also have the offer of a week's accomodation in a ski chalet (no snow though!) in La Tania, which I believe is around Merribel/Courchevel around 5th September. Anyone done any riding in that area of the Alps specifically?

It looks like that the Cormet de Roseland might be within reach -I've always thought that looks like a great climb -but any other suggestions/comments gratefully received.

I have really only been skiing in Courchevel, but the Cormet de Roseland is close, as are climbs such as the Col de L'Iseran, Col des Saisies and the climbs to ski resorts such as Les Arcs, La Plagne (ugly purpose built resort but not a bad climb) and, of course, Courchevel itself.
