Trying to figure out which rental cars will fit 2 bikes in the back. I want to book the car online instead of just figuring it out in person bec. it's cheaper that way. Last trip we rented a Prius but they seem in high demand now. Will any run of the mill rental cars work? Any suggestions will be most appreciated. :)

I rented a PT cruiser a couple years ago. 2 bikes fit no problem with the rear seat down, and its a compact!

I use to do it with a FORD full size..... or a CAMRY that the seat folded

What are your vehicle choices?

Is it just the two of you? If so you might want to consider a minivan as its cheaper to rent (or was) than an suv.

Yep, I agree, vans are great and since you are travelling no one you know will see you in it. :) They hold everything.

Minivans are the "unsung heroes of efficient transport" for cycling enthusiasts.

Thanks! Not sure I could drive a minivan but I will investigate.

A minivan would be perfect for this. Be careful though. you might end up falling in love with it for it's utility. I did. LOL

I rented a Chrysler Pacifica for a cycling trip in Colorado a couple of years ago. We fit 3 adults, a child in a car seat and 2 bikes without too many problems. It was also less expensive to rent than a mini van.
