For a rider of his obvious caliber and potential, other teams will make him offers. It’s the lesser riders who will have to worry, because other first division teams will not spend the money on them this late.

Mr. Landis has an escape clause in his contract in the event that Phondork was excluded from the Pro Tour. He will probably have to settle for a smallish contract, relative to what he would have expected in August. However, someone will snatch him up quickly...perhaps a team looking for a stage race leader that doesn't currently have a first-stringer on their books and would be willing to take his last week in the Tour as evidence of his potential...Cofidis, maybe, or Davitomon (though they already have one "potential" guy in Evans)...or even Raboboank (with them trading one ex-Postie for another).... Would Discovery pick him up with the promise of Tour leadership if Sir GTO is riding the Classics???
