Its alot but the photo is a little misleading too? I am amazed at what some can do drop wise, @ 8cm. I can ride the drops all day @ 8.5 I fidgit like mad!

Look at the second photo. The 2 guys next to Boonen both look like they've got arms down to their knees. They've got huge drop yet their torsos aren't especially horizontal.

There is a bit of distortion making it look worse than it is. Notice how the front wheel looks compressed. The who front of the bike is squished down.

I think that has to be a large part of it. Whatever distortions there might be in the photo, the basic fact is that they seem to have relatively short torsos and long arms, which suggests a lot of drop based on gross morphology alone before any adjustments are made for the rider's preferred position. Jeeze, the guy at the far end of the three is practically sitting up and he can reach the bars just fine.

I agree. Even with that, there is still quite a drop. It's interesting to see the variety of set ups, even with the other bikes in the group. Each of these must work for their particular rider.

So, that's a good question.

What's your seat to bar drop?

I can do centuries at 6cm and club rides a little lower maybe 7-8 cm.

On most all my bikes 5 to 5 1/2" or around 13 to 14 cm.

By far the best answer I've heard yet. You've won a lead-out in any town line sprint.
