Looking for some training tubulars.......700x25-27, obvious training tire characteristics.....higher mileage, durability, etc.

I love these ones, but I have an adversion to paying more for my bike tires, than my car. Any cheaper sources??

I was looking for something similar and settled on 24mm Paves from Probikekit. I've ordered them and can't wait to try them out. They are $43/tube:

I have a set of Tufo Elite Ride 25 and they are not the typical Tufo ride. They are much better and at a decent price. Flat protection should be good. None yet, but I haven't been riding those wheels much.

I second the Elite Ride 25.

I have them on two bikes.

One set has about 2000 miles, no flats and they frankly don't look like they've even started to wear.

I'm sold on them.

I have the Elite Ride 23's. Good tires. No flats and, even if they do flat those injectable sealers like "Pit Stop" are pretty effective at fixing it.

ATMO Conti Sprinters are the best training tubulars. They have superb flat protection, wear like iron, have a decent ride and most importantly cheap.

P.S. Friends don't let friends ride Tufo's...

Have you considered putting Pirelli P-Zeros on your car?

Whatever you do, don't ride sucky tubulars. I've done it and it is not worth it.

Yep Tufo bang for the buck. Don't expect a great ride, but durable.

I just picked up some Vitoria Corsa EVO CX tubulars from probikekit for $38/each. It doesn't get much better than that for price on quality rubber. Shipping is free, and fast, to the US.

how easy/hard is pit stop to use? in your experience, it works well? want to try some tubbies. if something like pit stop worked, the jump would be easier. thanks!

Pit stop works just fine. It will not repair a big old tear in a sidewall (or a large hole for that matter), but it will take care of a normal puncture, which means that you can ride home (5 miles or 20) without yanking the tire. For a small puncture, the tire is effectively repaired.

Conti competitions are pretty long wearing tires, that are still good quality tires, and they're available in 25 as well as 22. I also tried a set of the evo pave mentioned above and they lasted a long time.
