I have purchased two Serotta's here and I sold a Serotta here. I had a great experience on all three occasions.

I purchased a few parts from Dave Thompson over the years, but since then I've learned to look for the cracks under the shoe polish and Sharpie marks.

To those who know Dave...he's a class act and his parts/bikes are impeccable.

Me?

Bought four, sold zero, but once I take pictures, looking to sell two.

You know, if people like one of my enablers (hello Mr. Thwart) weren't my size...

Dave, who says one of the two he's looking to sell is a 1986 Waterford-built Paramount in exquisitely fine condition that's just a bit too big for him which is a shame with its Columbus tubing and yet 130mm rear spacing for modern drivetrains

If he's sold 15, he's doing great. It's those who still have 15 to sell that are in trouble.

Some of us are going to keep all 15...

The real question is: Do you have some bikes that no money could buy?

Dave, who does try to remember these are objects but each one has a name

I bought my very first Serotta here in early 2001 and sold it here when I bought another. Since then....I quit counting at 20.

I think only 7 of the framesets were bought new:
Legend
Strong
Concours (Serotta demo deal)
Trek 5200
Ottrott (Serotta demo deal)
Fierte Ti (bought on "close out" from my lbs)
Specialized Langster (I traded Velo Dadi for 2 pairs of snow shoes).

The rest were mostly bought used from the Classifieds:

Ottrott

Ebisu
Atlanta
Rapid Tour (sold back to the forumite I bought it from)
Fierte (nos from eBay for $550)

What do they call that in the Real Estate world? Pocket listings???

None sold.
Two purchased, classifieds.
One referred for a buddy's purchase, classifieds.

Most stuff that passes hands here are for bigger guys than myself.

Gee, I hadn't thought of that term since I retired 2 years ago but I guess that's one way to look at it. My Legend sale was a total surprise to me. PB Wrench was in town for a business convention-like meeting and borrowed my Strada Bianca. He said his pal would probably love to buy my Legend if I would part with it. When I thought about that idea I realized that the Strada Bianca did everything the Legend for me did with added rough road capability. Both of them came to my house to return the Hampsten, we all went for a short ride, and the Legend got packed and hauled away on the spot with the promise "I'll mail you a check when I get home". He did too. :)

I've bought one and sold none. I have sold some parts. All transactions were free of problems. It's a good site. :)
