I decided to give vinyl tubes a try. Thinking of course that they were not worth the $$$ premium and would not notice any difference as opposed to butyl.

Guess what - I swear I can feel a difference in ride quality. More supple and 'buoyant', for lack of a better term. Same tires and inflation pressure, etc.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

They do lose air fast, but I re-pump before every ride anyway.

I think you mean latex tubes, not vinyl?

I've tried them often, in various brands; my assessment: I never felt a truly significant difference in ride quality; they lose air faster than the Hindenburg; they cost more; and they flat (esp. pinch flat) much easier; in my opinion.

I've given up on them, as I've concluded I'd prefer to ride without fear on my fine old butyl tubes, or ride tubulars if I really want a different feel.

But to each his/her own.

Yes, latex, my mistake.

No flat issues for me....yet.
