I just bought a pair of Campy Neutrons that did not come with skewers. I'm looking for black and fairly light but still relatively affordable (under $40-$50/set)--something like Salsa Flip-offs. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

I have the SALSA and they work and hold up well. another option is to put a WTB for the black campy ones on forum.

Most skewers are good and do the job....some look better and a few are lighter (??). Fashion can dictate spending more $$s but they basically just hold the wheel securely. (all of them)

At worse case just rotate the skewers you have :)

I second mavic's, have found them to pretty decent. I think Dura-Ace are the best but not black.

I like Hope skewers among others, but fyi they're sized for 135mm mtn. hubs.

Thanks for all responses so far.
Any current downside to Ti skewers? I remember when they first came out there were a few failures, probably due to overtightening, but its scared me away from them since.

For skewers, you want 'em to be steel. Jeff N.

Never have had problems with Ti.
Mavic's are OK but I find they sometimes don't close fully on rear breezer dropouts w/o facing down or backwards.

Fairwheel Bikes did a nice overview of some not-so-common skewers that makes for an entertaining (if not enlightening) read:

Their observation that DuraAce is "Long believed by many to be the most secure clamping skewer in the industry" probably carries a lot of weight (no pun intended) with some.

Have switched everything to the American Classic steel skewers. Of course, Ti model would be lighter, but the steel is stronger and plenty light enough. Been using since '00 and never a problem. Least expensive place I've fouind them has been Glory Cycles (google).

My brother's wheels have Zipp skewers and my Dura-Ace wheels are jealous. I like the Zipps.

Got the Zipp ti skewers. 15000 miles no problems.
