Do the Shimano splined tools for bottom bracket (9 speed)
and cassette fit the new SRAM parts?
Thanks
VF
If you're referring to the octalink internal spline tool, no. The Shimano outboard bearing spline design has been adopted by most brands, including SRAM and Campy.
You need a tool like the Park BBT-19.

Just thought I would revive this question to clarify:
The BB-19 tool will allow me to install/uninstall my Ultratorque Chorus crankset and also the new SRAM Rival crankset that I just bought.
I need to install the SRAM BB, and don't have the tool. I would rather have one tool that fits both interfaces.
Thanks for a quick reply, as I need to buy ASAP!

Darren;
I am not a bike mechanic but I believe there are several BB tools out there as there are a couple of different patterns for the spanner to grab.
If you go to the Park Tool or Pedro's web site, the descriptions should tell you what fits what.

Yes, on the Park Tools website, it says that this tool works for both Sram Rival and Ultratorque cranks amongst several others.
I was doubting this because it seems like there are rarely any standards any more. This actually seems as though several manufacturers agree on one standard! Not a cheap tool, but I will likely use it many times in the next several years, so what the hell.

So, I'm sitting here since last December with this
question on my mind....
I still don't get it. All this talk of Campy and and ultratorque
has confused my aged mind.
I will attempt to repose my original question:
I have a SHIMANO style splined CASSETTE tool in my sweaty, greasy hand.
It works on 9 and 10 speed SHIMANO CASSETTES.
Will it also install a SRAM Cassette?

Yes, it will. Same teeth and pattern!

Double yup. It will work on IRD cassettes as well.
