Passed the local mall on the way to work today. Looked like any other weekend. So who, exactly, is out there shopping?

Wondering, also, who exactly gets Friday after Thanksgiving off? Other than one year when we moved into our new house, I haven't had one in 30 years.

And I'm not even in retail.

I'm on my way into work....my wife is home with the kids since they don't have school today. I believe she is going to try and do some shopping....

I'm working. Worked yesterday too, which was lovely.

On the way in today I did get a look at the line in front of Best Buy and it was impressive; it wrapped around the block.

I've not worked a Friday after in over 30 years. 25 in the Boat business as it was the slow time of year
The last 7 working for the school district.

Same with my wife who has worked in Local government for 30 years.

I'm taking the day off -- we're visiting the in-laws in Nashville. No special plans to go shopping -- I think that we're taking the kids to an indoor pool soon.

You'll need to engage in some subtle labor/management negotiation. Got a mirror?

You should go see the great Roland White at the Station Inn tonight!

Sometimes I bitch about working as a photographer but then my good friends remind me that it sure beats having to work at a REAL job! Believe me, it IS work but the rewards (other than monetary) are really, really nice. Gotta shoot a third round high school playoff game tonight at Texas Stadium and it's going to be real nice to shoot a game in a place where the lights are right!

I'm here. The day after is a great day to catch up or clean up the office.

I've been working in insurance (claims) for 15 years. Haven't worked one Friday after Thanksgiving across three employers.

Worked 24 hours yesterday, Working 24 hours more (overtime) today.

Never fails... I was in the gym on the elliptical and 45 minutes into my workout got a call...

Can't complain too much - at least they provide us with nice equipment. (THEY WON"T buy a spin bike! I asked for a computrainer and they laughed...)

we got the day BEFORE and AFTER turkeyday off...

actually, I got to leave early on Tuesday too...there's a dead rat in my office wall that the facilities guys can't find. My boss came by to chat about a project, took a couple of whiffs of the fetid odor, made a vomit face, and told me to take off...

if you're a Texas fan it was a totally fun game to watch. The Horns methodically destroyed the aggies. Loved watching the a&m QBs eating turf.

One of the announcers had a great line..."Is a&m the new Baylor?"

In money management, we work until 2 pm on days like this; usually over 50% of the firm takes a vacation day. I like the fast commute - home in 45 minutes instead of 75 - ah the 30 minutes of effective stoppage each day.

The entire education industry might be at the mall (I did see fewer Subarus on the road :)

I rode my bicycle.
Plan is to ride Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday as much as we can before the cold rain commences.

Dude, I have been working 18+ hours a day for over two weeks now with no end in sight ... got an hour ride in yesterday on no sleep 11 miles with a 1600 foot climb). Life is weird ... but somebody's got to shop

We have the whole family in town this weekend, and I'm self-employed, so I work when I need to and generally don't at times like these. I took an hour to do get some end of month invoices ready to go yesterday, but otherwise, no work. Big meeting Monday night though, so I'll be back at it first thing Monday morning. After we clean up!

Both.

I'm coaching the Colavita reginal women's team, so I was out there working with them this morning - hey, it counts! I was also shopping, or at least working on the christmas list by taking note of what winter clothing my riders don't have but should. It was a far better shopping experience than going to the mall...

I am working again today, into the night.

We need more posts so I can pass the time.

No Thanksgiving in Australia. No day off. No Black Friday.

Also no cranberries.

think about that next time you walk past the pyramids of cranberry sauce in the aisles of the grocery stores back home...

turkey isn't big here either

nor are pumpkins.

So. I did work, and I made Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday (because it is one of those things you need all day to cook...) and I didn't shop.

Had to work, but had the morning free in Manhattan. Presented for your consideration, your's truly with Dora and some work buds at the Macy's parade, and sampling one of NYC's finest dining establishments.

Happy Holidays! Chris
