I thought about putting in a bid, but I'm mostly a roadie, and I'm a tad short on the 16.5 mil they are asking. However, I suppose I could put in my own 6' wide paved route - 1900 acres gives you a lot of room to play with. I guess all I have to do is come up with the $.

PS I promise you guys if at any point in my life I live here I will invite the entire forum over for some riding... :D

The whole state of Vermont is just a great place to ride !

It looks good...you should go for it. I would say though, if you are thinking of putting in your own path, you probably should check into the zoning ordinances and neighborhood association covenants. Other than that, looks really nice!!

I thank you for your confidence in my financial situation. :p

Unfortunately, I think my puny little spread in the MO hills is about all I can afford, now or in the foreseeable future.

I agree. In fact just because it isn't recognized as a Tour venue for the pros doesn't mean it can't be a best kept secret.

The weird thing is that, all those millions later, that's NOT a lot of room for building a 6' road that won't get boring quite quickly. To me, that was/is one of the problems with Hincapie's project in South Carolina - the road section is short so really it's the local roads you are paying for and you can get those for a lot less by buying outside the compound. Variety is the spice of life in road cycling. You could own a couple of French Alps and be bored in a week if you thought that was all you'd get to ride.

we could form a non-profit and group buy it. everybody kick in a few thousand and I'll live there to keep an eye on it.

It's less expensive and has limited potential for cycling but the 'house' is really solid. Too bad the real estate agent doesn't tell you that it sits right on the boarder and in fact might actually be in Canada.
