Pain in Medial Retinaculum

The fitter I'm working with (highly regarded btw) diagnosed that some of my knee pain was resulting from soreness in the medial retinaculum. He recommended some cleat changes, but after 3 or 4 weeks still getting knee pain on the medial side of my knee after riding. Was wondering if anyone else was diagnosed with pain in this area and how you dealt with it?

pain indicates injury. Changes probably won't help until the damage has a chance to heal first...

It sucks, but rest a bit my friend. Perhaps some NSAIDS for a week or 2...
