I've seen other examples of this but this is the only one that I could find. I'm not sure exactly what this style of bar wrapping is called...nor do I know the method of wrapping like it. I've asked several bike shop guys about it and they are all either at a loss as to the method or simply don't want to mess around trying it. Anyone out there know of on-line instructions for doing this....or that can explain it to me in a few words. Also, I've been told to only try this with ribbon but I'm thinking that something fairly thin like the Fizik tapes may work....any opinions on this? I'm wanting to do it on the new IF singlespeed that I'm building in yellow/black. Thanks!

The method I've seen is like the fixed gear version just above this post that is more weaving and doesn't require doubling over the tape. That also means you can use cork tape or similar instead of Tresostar.

I will say that after taking all that time to create the nice basketweave look, that using glossy electrical tape to finish it was rather unsightly.

I've gotta have a few cold ones to even start to attempt this!....at least that way I've got an excuse other than just being stupid!
