Anything west of Oyster Bay is the City to me and anything north of that is Canada. :)

Anybody remember the Sunday storm on (I think) October 4, 1987? I was living in Albany at the time. About 6-10 inches of snow in just a few hours. The snow took down lots of trees - along with power and phone lines. No phone for a week, no power for 9 days. Lots of pizza and beer by candle light. :)

Regards,
Greg

I remember that. I was in grade school. Was living in Washington County.

It's been nasty here too!

The real sign winter is setting in is the low this week started getting into the upper 60's!

This is our nice time. We had our "sucks" in August.

Wish we had more seasons. Ours are "It's Hot," "Pretty hot," "Warm," and "A little less warm."

Was in Bozeman MT yesterday; almost hit 70 degrees. Had the locals scratching their heads. Lead story on a local Montana tourist related story: Glacier National Park: Losing its namesake.

just sayin'...

I used to feel that four distinct seasons was a Good Thing (I've lived in the north-east USA my entire life) until I started cycling seriously! But now, any time a ride is cancelled due to torrential rain or snow/ice on the roads, I find myself thinking "Arizona, here I come!"

Was Al Gore speaking anywhere in the area?...That usually will bring on unseasonably cold weather...so much so that it has become known as the "Gore Effect"....

Send a little chill out west please. We are in yet another heatwave.
93 yesterday and high 80's today. I hate having to run the AC in November.
Makes for some warm but fun riding though.

Bee man...for 6 years in Upstate New York and most of the rest in Boston, I used to ask myself the same question.

Then one day I realized I could just up and move to Colorado and leave all the bad weather behind.

Let me know if you need a place to stay when you come out to look for your new house on the front range.

I did 3 years hard time (sep 2001 to aug 2004) in Syracuse, NY (liverpool). The crews based up there called it "ice station zebra".

Earliest I saw snow on the ground was Oct 5 (ish) and the latest was April 23rd although I can't remember which years. I also remember getting my aircraft deiced as late in the year as early May in Syracuse one morning while based up there. Like clockwork starting in September descending thru the clouds into BUF/SYR/ROC between say 15,000 to 9,000 feet you'll see snow that evaporates before it hits the ground.

The winter of 02 or 03 had the plowed snow at the airport piled higher than the 4 story tall airport parking garage. You used to come back to the employee lot after a 4 day trip and count humps of snow in the parking lot to find your car, only to sometimes start cleaning the snow off a "hump" and find that you miscounted by one or two numbers and you just cleaned off part of someone else's car.

didn't do much road riding up there at the time but I skied a lot and did some great mountain biking. bought my current GF MTB from Bicycle Alley over by the university.

should be in the 80's for a high today and the rest of the weekend. Nope prefer "It's Hot, Pretty hot, Warm, and A little less warm" instead of actual seasons.
