Ultegra 10-Speed STI Compatibility?

Nashbar has Ultegra 6603 triple STI levers on sale for $149. Has anyone used the triple levers with a double crankset and front derailleur? The triple levers are very interesting to me IF they can also work well with the double crank.

It will work, using the derailleur limit screws to keep the cage from moving in that far. Not as smooth as a regular double...in my experience. I think the shape of the cage is the factor on that....

My trusted LBS (not all LBS are trusted) informed me that it is possible and assured me he could do it if I wanted to replace the triple with a compact (sold the bike so it doesn't matter now).

If he says he can do it then I know it is possible.
