Just got some new wheels with DT Swiss 240S hubs. This is my first experience with them and my only other experience is with some Ultegra hubs that I had forever. So I'm not exactly a hub expert ;)

The freewheel noise kind of pulses as the wheel spins. So if a quiet freewheel is zzzzzzzzzzzz and a noisy freewheel is ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ this one goes ZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzz. The noisy/quiet parts are in the same spot on the wheel with every rotation. I only have 40 miles on them so maybe it takes a while for the lube stuff to distribute itself or something? Just trying to figure out if this is normal or not and if I should re-lube.

Thanks for any help.

I don't know why they pulse like that, but I have two sets of them on mountain bikes and they both do the same thing.

Yip thats the 240, can be a little irritating on long descents!

Okay, thanks for the feedback. I guess the key is to go fast enough so the wind noise drowns out the hub noise ;)

Clearly, your hub disfunctional REM sleep disorder.

If that bugs you, Chris King hubs would drive you nuckin futs! :)

Mine got better with time. It's not so bad now. Or maybe I don't notice it anymore.

Ride faster, the wind will block out the noise.
