View Full Version : Finally found a Davidson that could work for me...

Well,
I finally found a Davidson that could work for me. It's on the low end of my size cut-off, but in the ball park. On my limited cycling budget I think I can do it. I have always wanted one ever since seeing the one my USCF coach had back during my racing days. A nice purple/black Davidson with the Space needle logo on the ST. His was the perfect geometry for quick crit style racing.

I'm thinking a little retro on this one.

Whadya think?

I dig. Here's mine. I wish it weren't black; maybe I'll take it to Elliott Bay for a repaint.

That frame looks pretty sweet but I don't think it will be the end of your search.

You know that a BLE or MXL will be the "stuff" for a big guy like you. Hold out for one of them.... or save up for a bespoke 'guch.

white frames are always nice. looks cool to me. but cs124 makes a good point. big william, a dude with your power was just made for an emma. don't know if it floats your boat, but might be a cool idea. i know the jerk has a pretty big one floating around his shop.

Big guys on white bikes have to ride fast to keep the podium girls at bay-grab it-looks in great shape!

what are the geo specs on that thing? just curious as I'm about your size and that thing looks f'n huge.

fyi mxl's weren't made big enough for jolly greens like me and you william.

That is a nice BIG Davidson! My Davidson is on the opposite end of the size scale, 50cm Pista built in the late 70's.

What're the specs on that bad boy? If you don't have a bike with down-tube shifters, that's a perfect candidate.

I made a few road trips down to Seattle and considered spending some of my hard earned student loan money on a Davidson. I didn't in the end, but that was simply logic rearing it's ugly head.

They are beautifully built frames and Bill Davidson is a master, in my opinion. He is also an interesting guy to boot, so that makes dealing with him more fun! (I interviewed him for some research relating to my Master's thesis!)

Thanks for the replies folks!

KevinK...love the Davidson Pista!

CS & James...An Emma would be great..though a little more FRN's then I can likely spend at the moment, same with a Yamaguchi...though they are on my list and I will own one of each one day. Oh yes, I will. :D

Ok, you want Specs? I got your specs right here!!.....

That's great! Davidson's are some of the coolest bikes out there.
If you need some stuff for a retro build come to my basement next time you're in Boston. There are some parts with your name on them.
