A true class act with a wicked sense of humor.

The best.

I wonder if younger folks even have a clue how good film used to be.

I guess the rumors about his cancer were true. Very very sad. A great actor and by all accounts a great guy. Jeez, a Hollywood marriage that lasted a lifetime and wasn't just for show. That alone should get him into heaven.

One of the all-time best and as noted, an amazing combination of wit, looks, charm, humor, modesty, and generosity, surely a rarity these days. Not to mention, he was a damn fine driver. He'll be missed in many ways.

If any stations decide to do a tribute with a Paul Marathon, it will be a great chance to expose my kids to some great movies.

RIP Cool Hand

After the kids go to bed tonight I'm gonna watch The Hustler and The Color of Money back to back.

A great actor and wonderful human being. I admired his philanthropy as much as his acting and of course he was no slouch on the race track either.

I always enjoyed his work both on the screen and behind the scenes raising money for charity and boy could that man drive.

He is missed.

"Sometimes A Great Notion", PN's directorial debut, and pretty much a box office sleeper, is one of my all time favorite flicks, not to mention "Cool Hand ( Any woman that innocent...and built like that...just GOTTA be named Lucille!) Luke". What a jolt, finding out he'd passed this AM. RIP, Sir. Jeff N.

Paul was a cyclist as well...he did all the bicycle stunt work in "Butch Cassidy" as the stuntman kept falling off....

He used to ride his bike around the paddock at Lime Rock in between driving sessions....where his car number has been his current age for the last few seasons.

He will be greatly missed!

yep a class act, particularly as far as hollywood standards go. my favorite pn movie was "absence of malice". and how many hollywood types stay married to the same person for i don't know how many years i.e. joanne woodward. rip paul!

Kind of ironic that I am visiting my son at Kenyon College where Paul Newman graduated. Flags are at half-staff in memory of him as he is the best known Kenyon alumnus.

he could eat fifty eggs too. I was hoping he and Redford had one more in'em.

The guy was pretty much as close to perfect as a human being can get. He'll be missed.

He was kicked out of Ohio U., my Alma Mater. I used to have a poster of PN on my wall in the dorm, wearing an OU sweatshirt. my favorite movie: Cool hand Luke.

"What we have here is a failure to communicate".

One of my favorite movie lines...

What a loss.

Up until the end he was classy and discreet, in contrast to most Hollywood personalities. When asked if he was ill recently, he replied that he was "doing nicely". No sympathy needed.

the best. maybe ever. That leaves Robert Duvall and maybe a couple others whose stars naturally shine brighter than the PR machines make them.
