I suspect they they're getting a lot the attention this week in Britain, just as they did in the Tour of California. Congrats Rock Racing and Michael Ball. I want to see Rock Racing in next year's Giro. That'll be a great show.

If it were for a women's team, it'd be gorgeous. For a men's, um . . . .

I thought their original green and black kits that almost looked like a skeleton were pretty cool. Always could find the team in the pack and wasn't the same boring blue and orange.

That's just the Brit tour team kit... There are 3 new team kits for the Brit tour.

That one features the union Jack pattern, not the stars n stripes.

Some of those old antique tablecloths go for thousands of dollars now!

Just sayin' . . . :)

How long do you think he'd survive riding through rural Mississippi in that costume?

Here's what the kit for the rest of the team looks like while racing in London. It's Victor Hugo Pena:

For those who may have missed it :

Is that Tyler Hamiton or his chimeric twin? Bikesob had a piece about his Prada sunglasses last week Bikesnob (http://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/2008/09/riding-balls-out-haters-and-hated.html)

Well it's nice to see him win something big at age 37 after being out for 2 years. He can be an inspiration for Lance.

exactly my thoughts. Suicide king perhaps? He looks a bit peeved, people snickering at him so.

Whether you love it or hate it, it gets people talking. Score one for Michael Ball's marketing machine. Not many other teams get much attention in the kit department.

Ohhh, On my ride Sunday morning, I saw a guy in Full Astana kit. that blue is pretty noticeable.

My eyes!!

Seriously, who here wouldn't darn the ugliest kit for the skills and the opportunity to ride pro? I'd ride butt-naked for the opp - but that would be a worse sight.

Tyler looks like an evil elf or an embarrassed escapee from a Balkan folk festival. That uniform is pathetic.

I don't think I have ever seen a pro kit that looks "nice", I don't even know the word to describe a pro kit that isn't ugly because I don't think, currently, they exist.

I don't think it is really all that bad. Seriously is it any worse that Garmin/Chipotle?

BumbleBeeDave
09-09-2008, 07:07 PM
. . . is to gain attention for the team's sponsor. Period. I think Mr. Ball has proved already that he is a master at that game.

Why do you think I like the zebra stuff? Outrageous and totally attention grabbing for the sponsor. It also helps to keep me from getting my @ss run over by latte sipping cell phone gabbing soccer moms in their gigantic SUV's

I have no idea what Ball sells and certainly would not buy it after seeing that poofter uniform poor Tyler's wearing. Hell, I'll run the poor b*stard down if I see him doing NCAR repeats this winter in that kit just to put him out of his misery.

What do you think of FDJ's kit?
I ask because I think it looks classy and sharp, but I agree that most of the rest are not so hot.

I thought when you win the US Championship you ride representing your country, not the Nation of Michael Ball. The kit is all about Mr. Ball and nothing about the US...and I'm some anti-US leftie

Hadn't thought about it that way. That's a good point.
