That Hollowtech stuff is 4 years old in human years. In "Shimano-years" (which are like dog years) it is 46.5 years old. Why are you using stuff that is 46.5 years old? You should just throw away all your "old" 9 speed stuff and upgrade to 10 speed.

The most insidious part of this is that the Hollowtech Spline is patented or proprietary or somthing, so no smaller manufacturer (eg. Tange) can fill the void left by Shimano's exit (like some did with square taper).

It looks like Shimano 105 continues to be available and, at the higher end, Dura Ace Track bottom brackets.
