Sunday, August 24 - 5000 cyclists left Montgomery Community College to support Lance Armstrong's LIVEstrong Challenge Event in Philadelphia. It was the largest group of 'Century' riders I've ever witnessed in an event (there were literally 800+ 100 milers). For me personally, this is the most important charity event I sponsor each year which this year, nationally, collected over 8 million dollars for Cancer Research.

What makes LIVEstrong particularly special is the volunteer and fan support we receive as cyclists. EVERY intersection was blocked by local police to allow riders to ride without fear of motorists and we were literally escorted along the way with cheering fans, music, families with kids and entertaining rest stops (music, great food, personal attendance, massages, etc.). Personally is was my enjoyable century ever and one you may want to add to your 2009 list of goals. Of course Lance was present to open the event, and ride with the limited group of riders who collected 10K - quite cool. This year there were 4 point cities for the Challenge - Portland, OR, San Jose, CA, Philadephia, PA and Austin, TX.

The memory of this Century will forever be with me.

That sounded really nice. :) Those are great roads for riding in that area too!

My goal is to get my wife riding this coming year so we can do these things together. Nice to hear you had such a great time.
