De Rosas from the 1960's are rare enough, but when have you ever seen one from the 1950's?

Well it says that the components are "original to cycle".
They didn't have cotterless cranks in 1958 did they?
"FastbacK" seat stays don't look right for that era either.
I'm gonna have to call BS on this one.

From the Velo-Retro Campagnolo timeline:

1958
The Record 5-pin cotterless crankset is introduced; 151mm bolt circle, 44 tooth minimum chainring, pedal dust caps, relieved spider and raised pedal lip. Also introduced are the Record one-piece alloy, small and large flange hubs (oval holes in flanges, oil hole clip and open "C" on quick release lever changed to closed "C"). Patent is granted on hollow chainring bolts with Allen key hole and crank bolt cover with Allen key hole.

Guess on that point, anyway, I'll see your BS and raise you.

Well you are certainly right on the crank.
Now for more serious questions. Provenance is everything............
Fork crown is way too modern IMHO.
Also in 1958 De Rosa had won a world championship? Notice the world stripes
on the head tube.

I'm no expert but it doesn't look right ............

Fork crown is way too modern IMHO.Have you never seen a 1950's Cinelli SC, with both fastback seatstays and sloping fork crown?

Now if there were many examples of 1950's De Rosas and this one was markedly different in style, you might have a point. But have you ever seen a pre-1960 De Rosa before?

So do you believe that Ken Denny fabricated a letter from Ugo and Christiano De Rosa?

I think I saw a photo of 1950's road bike once but it was in black and white so I couldn't get a very clear look. I'm being facetious of course I don't think I have a clue. I think I can go as far back as 1990's--on a good day and I think the 1950's came before the 1990's. I think.

I'm just overly skeptical. Scene way too many fakes in the wine trade.
Mia Culpa.

BTW I still don't get the world stripes.
