For any frame builders out there...or any sensitive enough to tell the difference:

Is there any real qualitative difference in handling or ride characteristics among steel bikes with steel flat crown forks like this: http://www.bikefanclub.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1383&password=&sort=1&cat=507&page=2

compared to steel crowned forks like this one: http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=4952

or, for that matter, a steel unicrown fork. I'm not going to go looking for an example, you guys know what ah mean, the kind where the fork blades just come together and are joined in a "U" at the steer tube.

Chris Chance made a great looking fork for his Slim Chance model at one time . Sorry I could not open Sir Ritchie's link .

So does that mean you like the flat crown? You never really said. Still wondering why....or is it simply a matter of style. Is one harder than the other to build?

the style makes the most sense to me; the offset
of the blades covers the bases re steering character-
istics, and the added length of each pipe allow the
overall fork geometry to yield a more comfortable
ride. i see it as the only compromise-free shape.
