I rode the Cheat Mtn Challenge this weekend, its an amazing organized ride/race at Snowshoe Mountain in West, VA. Yeah its a race, but not many people were racing it. Great roads, fun long climbs, and awesome supports.

Do you have any suggestions on other cool centuries/rides in the Mid Atlantic area?

Thanks,
-Joe

Also cool pic from this weekends ride at the cheat:

There are several organized centuries in the general Philly area. I've done most of them. If you catch it on a nice day, this one has got to be the prettiest:

Plenty of climbing. Only a couple of really tough hills, but lots of typical Amish country rolling climbs that take a toll after a while. The last 10-15 miles ease up a good bit. I'd done some version of this ride every year until last year and I highly recommend it on a nice day.

Also, the Gap Gallop up in the Lehigh Valley is a great ride in early October. A couple of good climbs early, but the last 25 miles is pretty easy. Some beautiful riding through Lehigh Valley farm land and the Delaware Water Gap.

The Scenic Schuylkill Century and Lake Nockamixon rides are also nice, but I'd recommend the two above as the best rides in the area.

The Civil War Century (http://www.baltobikeclub.org/index.pl/cwc) is a popular ride and, well worth participating in.

Good job on the CMC.

I'm putting together a few late season rides in the Boston area, but I've never been able to get forum members around here on their bikes - it has to be some big dollar event for that.

There's the Arlington centrury - I've mapped out 50 miles of hills in Arlington MA, and what goes up must come down... The best part of this ride is if you get dropped you just go over two blocks and rejoin on hill later.

The pub crawl century is also in the plans. The map is only showing 92 miles, but much past the midway point nobody is going to be riding straight, so it's all good.

You just missed a full moon ice cream run. Not what anybody would call long or challenging, but if you've ever had a large at Kimbal's and tried to ride home you would understand.

And then there's the Hub on Wheels...

The Lancaster Bicycling Club Covered Bridge Metric Century was today LBC Metric (http://www.lancasterbikeclub.org/cbm.php). It is a pretty low key ride through the beautiful farms, Amish and otherwise, in Lancaster Co. PA. Mostly rolling terrain, and several historical covered bridges. It was a beautiful day.

+1 on the Baltimore Bicycling Club's Civil War Century. 7.5k of climbing, and cruises through South Mountain, Gettysburg, and Antietam battlefields. It is a very well orgainized ride.

Blue Ridge Extreme
Shenandoah Fall Foliage
One in Richmond (name forgotten)
Buycycling had a small piece on one in Delaware that sounded amazing. I think it had mennonite connections somehow.

Just say the word Coach.

I can hardly finish the child's size at Kimball's.

Hiller than Thou, put on by the NJ Touring society I think.

Fantastic ride well organized and mapped out. 100 + or so miles with 10,000 ft. of climbing. The have a timed and non-timed division. Some really steep stuff.

On one of the last wknds in September, so the weather can be nice.
