On this morning's ride I rolled over 50,000 miles on my 2002 Ottrott. This has been a great bike and the Shimano Dura Ace triple has performed flawlessly without any maintenance aside from replacing chains and cassettes.

on passing 50,000 on such a terrific bike. I rode my 2002 Ottrott today in Tulsa and it was about 80 degrees - we are getting an extended break from the usual 105 degree days!

Congratulations! - post a pic of the Ottrott!

Chief,

Excellent job, that's quite an accomplishment. Thanks
for posting the message. Of course, if you ever try to
sell your Ottrott on ebay, you won't be able to put
"lightly used, only a few hundred miles...". ;)

TAW, I can claim that it was ridden by an "ole retired professor."

Wow, that's alot of miles!

I just passed 10k miles last week on my Sarthe, and I was thinking that milestone merits another bike.

Ben and Co. should have a 50,000 mile badge they send you to affix to the bike.
Kind of like the Owners Club badge.
Since I don't use a computer I won't really know when I get there but it still seems cool for those who do keep track.

You need to adopt a significantly more aggressive riding position ;) As we all know, the smaller the bike, the faster the rider!

Ask the Chief how old he is and then you will find out how really terrific what he accomplished. How many cyclists his age will come any place close to what he has done?

The Chief is a standard to try to meet, in more ways than one.
