Almost 223,000 gallons per month, and that was June before we got this recent heat wave. That is what 26 average homes use. And the saddest thing is that he is hardly ever here. Funny if you read the article how all the water hogs in West Austin cry "must be a broken pipe". If that were the case I'd be riding in ankle deep water everyday

I average about ten gallons a day, or 300 gallons per month.

Does that mean that if I increase my water usage I'll be a faster rider?

Maybe it takes that much water to detox ....... ;)

pretty shocking how much water you can use with such a large mansion. I hope all the top water users think about downsizing.

that said, are we upset that this is Lance Armstrong wasting water, or that water is being wasted in general? I think we should be equally concerned whether it's Armstrong or some other person who's rich and doesn't have the time or inclination to scrutinize their water use.

face it, if you were that rich, you might not pay that much attention, either.

Off-topic, but I highly recommend this documentary about the effect of unbridled development on the local water supply in Austin:

is what comes next. Will he follow through and reduce the amount of water his property uses?

I'll believe he wasn't aware - management company pays all the bills, and maintains the grounds - most of the water use is probably for irrigation and the pool (that he's not there to use!)

Given how inexpensive water is in most of the country (unless we're talking massive quantities), I don't think the poor pay a heck of a lot of attention either.

Since May there has been about 0.1" here in the land of the "good war." The KBR contractors have to truck in the water so maybe we can build a pipeline from Lance's house and save in the long run. Just sayin...

If he uses that much water, he must be a dope.
