Look, I'm not being a wisenheimer or anything, but look at her shoe and look at her knee in respective to the top tube of her bike! How does she do it without releasing her foot from the pedal?? Any bio-mecos out there??

That photo is very unusual. Her leg looks way out of whack.

This one:

doesn't look quite as extreme.

Chris, the limiting factor is her knee and ankle. The hip's free to move.
There is indeed enough rotation in her ankle and knee to do that. The pic's weird, but it is doable.

Disclaimer: I'm not a bio-metric fitter.

Look at her other foot/ leg. It, too, has a very toe-out/ knee-in position. I suppose that's just how she has to fit on the bike in order to ride it. If you notice George Hincapie's motion, he also has a very pronounced in/out movement of his knees over the top tube. Probably just their anatomy.

Could that position be listed as one of the benefits of the sloping top tube? :D

The photo isn't likely the normal pedaling position. I was watching that same leg earlier in the coverage when they were coming down the descent. The camera was behind the small group and her right foot is REALLY rotated on the pedal. The left is much closer to "normal". What does all that mean? She still won....
