There's a neat little article on the Velo News site today at:

http://www.velonews.com/tech/report/articles/7098.0.html

. . . talking about offbeat stuff from Interbike. There's some neat items, including tires from Grant Peterson that I'm sure dbrk will be ordering "en masse" . . . they are color blocked, and create different colors at speed. (see photos)

Also--and I am not sure about posting this--there a device that makes your bike sound just like one of those annoying rice rocket cars with the "fartbox" muffler.

Ah, well--at least we will hear Sandy and Kevan coming, now! ;) ;) ;)

And you haven't seen nothing until you see a Fiat 125 with one of them.

A Fiat 125 is so named because that's how much it weighs. In pounds, not kilos. They're all over Eastern Europe like cock-a-roaches.

I want some of these tyres.... I am just afraid I will be looking down to see the colors change and I will fall-flat on my face!!!!

Well, better yet. I will contract BBDave to take pictures of my bikes in motion :) :)

You'll have to promise to slow down from your usual pace as you ride by me. There's a limit to how fast I can pan the camera!

That tire look like a ferris wheel at night. Grant on crack is all I can say.

Rivendell's "speedblend" tires were long in the making. Grant was talking about this project for at least the past four or five years and eventually I saw a model. The Bigger Idea is to get someone like...uhhh....Bridgestone to buy the notion for use on cars. Grant owns the patent just in case you get any ideas...

Grant Petersen has a lot of interesting ideas but crack, I assure you, is not in his pipe.

i believe the commercial potential in these re automobile
use lies in that, given the correct color choices on the walls,
driving speed can be more easily determined from the
sidelines. or something to that effect...

Cops have thrice bagged me without colored tires. Radar twice and once from an overhead cop airplane. :crap:

Scandalous!!!!!

Cute. I get it. Grant gives Le'Flick and Feds the rope to hang speeding behemoths with should they ever lose their minds and force everyone to have that stripe? Ha ha, and the aftermarket gang (the next week) will come out with "speed cheaters" to stick ontop of the sidewalls that make it seem as if you are driving 25mph all the time!!! Only in America. *I have an overactive imagination.

Saab-It's called revenue enhancement-or use tax.
