I have some treasured Bar Wrap by none other then Anheida Ride. See Ray is a master wrapper of tape, he has no apprentice and has cut off his list of customers and will accept no more orders unless you know Ride Man personally. So for my part and to share with the minions that are not in the circle of Friends of Ray, I will gladly part with my tape if you as judged by our gallery here can tell me why YOU deserve this tape.
So start the writing or begging if that suits you and you might end up being the lucky one with Tape by Ray.

1. I replied first, and

This is coverted Ray Bar Wrap, I would think we would have some serious essays for such a treasured and rare comodity. Come on folks, let be creative.

True Barry, but you have no Serottas any more so that DQ's you. :D

I, on the other hand, should be awarded the tape because I don't need it.

IF and when I place a deposit on a lugged steel frame, then I will need Ride Man's bar tape to make it look truly elegant.

So I should be awarded the tape so that I will actually place the order and have a bike to put the tape on.

This is all part of the Kbedford Customs economic stimulus package.

Well, I think that I could really use the tape to make the frame I put a deposit on TODAY look really beeeautifuul when it arrives in my greasy little hands.

Beside, unlike you heathens, I have a demonstrated history of appreciating leather saddles and bar-wrap.

So there.

Here is the thing

I'm in desperate need for some old school, cycling bling

Don't want ceramics, Carbon Fiber or even Bamboo

Only Steel and/or leather will do.

Matched with my Brooks on a steel touring frame

Any thing other than some sweet leather bar tape would be a damn shame

My wife said I can buy some with the money I make off my poetry

So on this forum I will keep practicing unless you have some to throw at me!

Because I'm a vegetarian, I don't buy leather products new, & this is the only way I can get some to match my used Brooks.

Oz got the Leather in strips. Honest ! :p
The leather is dark brown. Water resistant to Military specs and tackified.

Looking at the stuff, I suspect that one' brifters will wear out before
this stuff needs to be replaced.

Next goal is to turn em into continuous wrap.

This involves

1.) Chamfering the edges properly (non-trivial)
2.) Application of a high quality, vibration damping, foam backing with
a workable adhesive.
3.) mating/splicing strips together neatly to form continuous wrap.

The places that used to do this work are mostly out of business. :crap:
Work has gone overseas.

I found a place (in the USA) that claims they can perform all of the above
procedures. If so, I'll have about 5 pro bono prototypes for the TdFL.

There is a lot of waste in cutting a hide, and this was cut on a water jet
machine using software designed to maximize usable leather.

I do apologize for the delay.

The wraps been a trading on the Black Market?

The rules did not stipulate that I can not also participate in the contest.
How about if I write a good essay .. What do I win ?

I do believe I sent Smiley the Black (not Brown) prototype

Ya don't want that version. Way too mushy, sticky and the leather ain't
up to par. This also had different (cheap) foam backing.
I think I sent out only two prototypes in black. Least I hope I did.

I've save a new Prototype for Judge Smiley.

Its your tape and its the last tape known to the public that their essay can win. Its still in the un-opened plastic bag you sent it to me in. So let the writing continue.........

Before you give in and take a fizik, have you considered Fujitoshi? I used it on my new Velo Orange, and I think it's every bit as nice as dbrk has said it is.

When I ordered it, jitensha had the black but was out of the tan. I got mine from a place in NYC whose name I've forgotten and that I can't find via google right now, but Yellow Jersey's web site says they have it.
