Can I use the new 5.5mm Campy chain on my drivetrain that is setup for 5.9mm? Couldn't find anything on the net about this.

Think about it - 11 is a prime number and 10 is not.

Using a chain that is rated and designed for a prime number on a non-prime number - it could be a disaster. It might work on the 11 and 13 tooth cogs, but probably not the 12 or 14.

And that g-ddamn 17 tooth is anyone's guess !

Maybe not vice-versa, but possibly the other way around.

Hope that was a help and now everything is clear. Just get a master-link and everything will be fine.

I would advise waiting for the 12-speed chain. It can't be far off, can it ?

Next Question ?

I think they will skip 12 speed and go right to a 13 speed chain (c13?). I think 13 is a lucky number and 12 isn't.

Whatever happened to answering my question?

My answer would be, why would you want to use a narrower, weaker and presumably costlier chain than your drivetrain was designed for?

I would see no reason as to do this. However .4mm is a pretty substantial difference between chains so the chain may not seat into the next gear as well as one designed for the correct spacing. At this point the only answers that you will recieve are going to be speculative as a select few have only ridden this let alone try frankenstiening parts.

you probably can.. but your der. adjustment better be dead on or it's going to drive you nuts... similar to when i used a 9spd chain for an 8 spd setup (too lazy to go buy a chain since i had a couple new 9spd ones in my tool drawer) - as long as it was dialed in, it worked fine...
