Ride pics from Western WI

Here are some pics of the ride my wife and I took today from La Crosse over the Mississippi into Minnesota and up the bluffs on the Minnesota side. It was windy but temperatures were perfect. There is the pic of the obligatory post-ride beverage (Izze Clementine for those familiar with the brand).

Any flooding in that area? Doesn't look like it.

Yes, we've had lots of rain and everything is quite lush right now. There has been some flooding on the southern part of town (what you see is basically in the middle of town) and in the region on both the Minnesota and Wisconsin sides -- not as bad as last year but bad enough that FEMA has had to come out here again to see if the area qualifies for disaster aid. There are still people living in FEMA trailers since last year because they lost their homes.

Is the one photo of the I-90 bridge crossing the Mississippi River? I'm originally from south-central MN but have been on the east coast for about 20 years. Every time I drive to visit my folks, the crossing from LaCrosse to LaCrescent meant that I was 'home.' I can not help but stop at the MN Welcome center next to the river there. Riding from the river to the top of the bluffs there - that's got to be a bit of work!

It's a stunning piece of country thereabouts.
