To train, Nice rides his bike everywhere he goes in Denver, including to and from Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey, where he works as an assistant distiller.

Wicked!

It looks like he is running a 32 x 16 on a 29'er. I also liked the minimalist look, with the stuff strapped to the front and just the front brake.

Have any of you guys ridden fixed off-road? And, if so, what is your preferred gearing?

Fixed,

I've gotten to be more and more like that, enjoying the mtb (hard tail and rigid fork) fixed on and off-road. I'm riding a 36 x 16 with 26" x 1.95 tires. The tires are OK for city/urban rough stuff and are the ticket for hard pack, gravel, single track etc...

Oh, and I have put on a front brake!

gdw, the 63x website is like a basic reference and working tool for me. And that gear size is just about right too :)
