Do Ultegra 9-speed derailleurs work with Ultegra 10-speed shifters? Do they work well or mediocre-ly?

I think that the 9speed derailer will work with the 10 speed shifter-the indexing is in the shifter-you may have to tweak the limit screws a bit. Check www.sheldonbrown.com to see if there is anything there

I have used it but as SPOKE tells you that is not a validation.

See http://www.sheldonbrown.com/dura-ace.html. Look for "Index Interchangeability Chart". Short answer, any 1997 or later Shimano rear derailleur is compatible with 6-10 speed shifter except Dura Ace 84-96. They all use the same cable pull; indexing is in the lever.

Smiley: why would you want to use a Shift Mate? We're talking all Shimano here, not Shimangolo combinations (where the Jtek works wonders).
