I think there are at least two different tapers for these parts. Right? No?
I think we can assume that a campy crank on a Campy BB will be correctly matched. Would a mis-matchoccur and be obvious if one put a Shimano crank on a Campy spindle? How about a TA Zephyr on Shimano BB? Sugino on Phil Wood? You get the idea--can we mix and match or are there some combos that don't work?

How far should the crank it onto the spindle? To a non-mechanic like me it would seem the the arm would go the more area would be in contact between the arm and the spindle but none of mine go on that far. I have read that arms that have been taken on and off amany times can bottom out and then can no longer be tightened enough to use safely so I guess I don't want the edge of the square hole to be flush with the spindle.

Is there any other go/no go standard?
