S&S Couplers and butted tubing

Can S&S couplers be fitted with butted top and down tubes? or do you need straight gauge tubes?

I have them in two bikes.


Both butted tubes.

So, I'm voting for yes.

and the couplers go on the outside where the circumferences are consistent. in other words, i am pretty sure you can couple nearly any tube.

Configure the butt around the coupler like Co-Mo and Serotta and most builders do just that.
