Just needed to clean my Campy Record deraileur (caught in a rain storm) and upon reassembling looked up the torque spec for the carbon cage pulley bolts. "The recommendation is 26.5 in.lbs (3 Nm)." This seemed snug (though it's difficult to know how freely the pulley rotate with the chain on) and wondered if anyone thought differently?

thanks and Happy Memorial Day

The pulleys rotate on bearings or bushings on a hollow axle that is slightly wider than the pulley wheel. When you apply the correct torque all you are doing is pulling the cage onto the axle which acts as a stiffener as well. 2+ft lbs isn't very much.

Thanks Dave, I found it hard to believe that Campy would recommend a torque value of 2.2 ft lbs if it were a problem.

Just wanted to hear validation....

good riding to you!
