While this mismatch may work to some extent, the flaws in the idea are obvious. According to the SRAM website, their shifters pull an equal 3mm of cable for each shift. Campy shifters, pull 2.5mm five times, 3.0mm twice and 3.5mm twice. The total pulls should be 27mm for SRAM and 25.5mm for Campy.

J-tek sells a model of their shiftmate that partially corrects the problem, reducing the 3mm pull of the SRAM shifter to about 2.8mm, but even they admit that it's only an improvement, since the Campy RD is not designed to operate with uniform cable pulls.
