So our own Steve H referred to the current issue of Velonews when referring to big fat tubulars in reference to my new Carl Strong.

So I went out and bought the paper version of the mag.

Surprised they only reviewed 4 tires, but better than nothing I guess.

I am always surprised that there are not more choices in the larger sizes along with easier availability, where I live, tubulars themselves are hard to come by, and one would think they do not come in anything more than 21 wide.

I posted on the bikeradar.com forum one time asking for online shops in the UK that may carry bigger sizes - I actually got a response telling me that anyone running tires bigger than 21's should not be on sew-ups!! Umm, OK.

The sew-up is the perfect medium for a high volume tire. In my opinion.

I recently built a set of wheels with SSC Paris-Roubaix rims and Tufo 25's. Great riding wheels and a great ride that that you can take anywhere - the tires are tough and just roll over bumps in the road.

I also wish that higher volume tires were easier to come by - without having to mail order.

Steve H. let us know if you are going to carry them. For all the rest of you, if there are favourite tires in the 25 or bigger camp let me know, along with where to find them, please.

I love big fat tubulars.

I run the vittoria paves in 24 and 27. Love'em. You can get the 24s in many places like Excel. The 27s you can get at Competitive Cyclist.

Worldclasscycles.com (http://www.worldclasscycles.com/tubular_tires_only_cart.htm) has the best selection of fat tubulars that I've found. Even so, they only have 3 that are bigger than 25; Dugast P-R Silk & Cotton, and the Vittorias. The one I'm curious about are the Schwalbe Stelvios (http://www.schwalbetires.com/node/1385). Anyone tried them? Archive says (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=23776&highlight=Schwalbe+tubular) that tufo makes them. So are these just the Elite Ride's with a different tread?
