Who repairs Ti?

Well Bianchi being the great company they are will not honor my warranty (lifetime) on my Ti mtb because I do not have the purchase reciept. The best they can do is send me a used AL mtb they have laying around. So I am going to look into geting my frame repaired. Does any one here know who repairs Ti and approx cost to fix a crack at the rear drop. I assume they wold have to replace the entire chainstay. I'd look for a local ti builder to repair it. if you can't find one, call Tom at Spectrum and he can tell you where to send it. Warranty replacement is usually a dealer driven issue. A dealer doing lots of $ with Bianchi could likely get it handled - if they wanted to.

Yeah, why isn't the dealer batting for you? Did you pay cash? If not, then there's a trail albeit not the "original receipt".

For repair information I'd check with Tom K or Steve Potts or Jim Kish. Or local--dunno where "hot and flat" is.

The shop it came from is no longer in buisness. The shop in town (Tallahassee) that sells Bianchi has been tring to get them to do something but the Bianchi rep for this area is nolonger working for Bianchi and they have not gotten a new rep yet. I know these guys and know they are doing what they can to get the frame replaced but have been getting little response from bianchi, which from what I understand is not unussual. The frame was originally built by Litespeed and the shop is going to check with them on a repair I was looking for other options to compare costs.

Ahh, Tallahassee-Florida with a Southern Accent (from a bumper sticker I saw in the 90's). I really enjoy the time I spend in the FL panhandle. I'm partial to the Indian Pass area (West of Apalachicola near Cape San Blas). I camp and fish.

Lightspeed is about as "local" as your going to get huh. If that doesn't work out there may be some NC area guys doing Ti. I don't know offhand, but could look into it.

Try a local weld shop that deals with pressure vessels and speciality metals.

Shoot; if the frame was supposedly built by Litespeed, then it was probably from back in the day when the Lynskey family owned the business. Since the Lynskey's are back in the bike business, why not contact Lynskey Performance and see if they'll do the repair?

I was able to get my Ti frame fixed by a person who builds custom wheelchairs for athletes. The "fix" has held up for over three years on a frame that all the LBS's said was trash. Look for someone like that or e-mail me for the guys info. He is in the Tampa area.
