View Full Version : Frivolous Aesthetic Question?

I'm building up a steelman cross frame and I have run into a dillemma.

The frame is blue, not dark blue, or pale sky blue, just blue with orange decals. I'm going to build up the bike with a mix of chorus and record parts, some carbon, some not, and eurus wheels (black ones). I was able to aquire a black steelman stem on the forum.

Here is my issue: I want to keep the steelman stem, but I feel like the bike will look best with a brown saddle and leather bar tape. Is it advisable to do this with a black stem, seatpost and bars?

I suppose it would be easy enough to use a pearl stem, noodle bars, and centaur post...but I would hate to give up the custom stem.

Brown with black? Sure why not. I think that color scheme is highly complimentary.

This thread is worthless without pictures.

Pics would make it much easier to judge... but blue, orange, black and brown just don't seem to match. Maybe if the orange and brown are close enough to compliment one another, but otherwise I think you might have one to many colors in that mix.

I just added a pick of the frame. I would love to do brown saddle and tape with a black stem and post. I feel like the brown makes some sense with the orange...without choosing orange itself.

thanks

Just hard to know without a shot of the bike. It would probably look ok and no, I wouldn't give up the stem either.

imho, you need silver components. I had a voodoo wazoo that was very similar to that color, it looked great with silver.

I agree. Silver would look better with that blue.
