Hello there,
Having just joined, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself, and let my special interests be known to the other members. I live in Calne, which is a small town about 20 miles outside Swindon which is in Wiltshire, England I was born and raised in Edinburgh, but have lived in England for the last 18 years.
I am a Hetchins nut! and have a few nice frames :- Magnum Bonum Spyder, Magnum Opus, both Vibrant. I also have an Opus Hellenic, and the jewel in my collection is an H-Special Hellenic Half-Curly. This frame was not built by Hetchins. But I did get permission from Jake Riviera (the then-owner of Hetchins) to have it built by Ron Cooper who was at that time building Bates frames for us. The lugs were cut by Lenn Phipps, and even Dave from Hetchins was impressed.
Other marques are Bates Volante, F. H. Grubb Road/Path, Southern Cycles Aspirant, and a Claud Butler Ultrashort Tandem. Plus enough bits to fill a museum!
My other interests are hi-fi and jazz, especially Lambert Hendricks and Ross and Georgie Fame. I also admit to not being in the first flush of youth, (or even the second!), so I'll be pleased to hear from other members of like age and interests.
Awra best, Charlie
