Wondering how long a lifespan folks get out of their canti brakes?
I ask because I think I've ruined a set of Cane Creeks after 3 seasons. I have to add that this is also my commuter and gets ridden in horrible conditions for 3-4 months every winter. We're talking salt laden slush and snow that leaves them looking brined over the winter.
I put new pads on each year but I think the springs inside are shot. I torqued up that little tiny Allen nut which should give more spring pressure and help them return out from the rim when released but they don't want to move much. The mounting posts are cleaned and lubed well.
Do you try and replace those springs or just go for new brakes at this point?
