When to replace pedals?

I'm having trouble clipping in the last few weeks--probably time for a new pair of cleats (at the very least)...but that got me thinking-do pedals wear out? How often do you replace yours?
For the record, I'm riding Times (forget the exact model) that must have about 8-10k on them.

I'm sure some pedals wear out, but cleats are usually the answer. Pedals can also wear out at the spindle interfaces---and some can be rebuilt. The mechanism(lack of) of a Bebop will outlive dozens of cleats. MOF I don't think that particular pedal body can be worn out.
