This time last year I was getting on a plane from Rome to Olbia with most of the riders. I hiked up to the top of LaMaddelena to get the best view of the time trial while the teams were climbing.

Fast forward to 2008, sitting in my basement in the not so warm PNW waiting for my NR headlight battery to finish charging for my commute in the morning. Life is less exciting this year.

The sprinters are an important part of the Giro, but will never be the center ring of that circus. Cipollini, Petachi, Baffi, et al, will never be the animators.

Gotta climb mountains if you want to be in the center ring at the Giro.

Anyone know who has live coverage on the 'net? Versus is only doing coverage on Sunday (four of them) :(

I'm very excited about this year's race. I was born in Palermo, Sicily and where stage two begins, Cefalu, is where I got married and my family has a beach house nearby. I know the roads in that region and it sound make for some spectacular racing and scenary.

I know last year I was able to get the RAI feed for free...I just can't speak Italian :rolleyes:

My first U2 album was vinyl Boy in 1980 or 1981, whenever it came out. My first U2 concert was in 1987.

They have lost me lately with their newer stuff, but they remain a great band.

Rode on Thursday with the Kelly jersey and my clips 'n straps in honor of Sean Kelly. No cobbles or rain were involved.
