Good question. Economies of scale - I suppose if it were bought in larger batches it could / would drop in price. I dont even know if there is any to be had - but I do know this: The wrap I have is BY FAR better than anything else I have seen or used. It blows away Brooks, the elkhide wrap from Velo Orange, cotton, cork, cork double wrap, aztec wrap, etc... I got caught out in the rain last week and was worried about my brooks B-17, and my wrap. The brooks looked like it did suffer a tad, while the bar wrap was fine. I don't even use gloves anymore when riding the bike with the leather wrap.

I just want more!

FYI

I have the velo-orange wrap on a bike that I took to Arizona this spring.

2700 kms on the roof in March, through Snow, Rain, road muck etc. And another 2700 kms back again.

The wrap, if anything looks even better for the experience, than before I left. The saddle was wrapped up tight, not the bars and the leather wrap came through with flying colours.

If it came though that - I don't think you need to worry about a rain storm.

Go to your LBS and ask them to order Selle Anatomica bar wrap from their J&B catalog. It's been available for over a year.

A well known on-line cycling retailer got some of AR's wrap and compared to the others that they carried. They liked AR's better, even over the Anatomica.

The foam backing is a 3M product and is outrageously expensive.

Gotta say, the 3M stuff is nice tho...
